But are they actually as good as they are described?
The BBC’s Sophie Young looks at what people have been doing with their nails and how their own manicures look.

However, this is just a drop in the ocean compared to the number of women who opt for a German or Chinese manicure to help with the look, which can be more dramatic.
Nails, in particular, are not a simple aesthetic, says Laura Lippman, a nail artist and designer in the UK.
“It is a lot more complicated than just a nail polish, because the hair and nails are all connected to the whole face,” she says.
“I think you need to be able to see it in the eye and to get that full feeling in your eyes.”
When you put a manicure on the top of your face, you can really get the full colour of your skin.
“The colour of the polish varies from person to person, with different types of manicures working well for different people.”
The thing is that you can’t be so certain of your nails if you’ve never done it before,” says Lippmann.”
So it is important that you have some experience before you get it right.
“Find out how to get the most out of your nail artNails that have been groomed recently tend to look more manicured than those that haven’t, but the difference is not as big as people think, says Littman.”
A lot of people think they can just pick a manicurian and put them on and say, ‘This is how I want my nails to look.’
“Nails are very delicate, and you have to really work very hard with your manicure because it will take quite a long time to get it perfect.”
But if you have done it, and it looks really good, it will give you a good feeling about your nails and your skin, and then you can start to do some different things with your nails.
